Woodford Glen Speedway, 16 Mar 2018 - Battle of the Stocks
After investigating and testing engine compressions and leakdowns we decided a quick strip down and inspection was the go. And guess what? ... nothing found wrong dammit.
So every electrical component in the car was swapped out including the kill switch. Then back to the track we headed with a bit of confidence that the engine misfire should be sorted.
And guess what again? ... Nope! And if anything it seemed to be getting worse.
So fuel pressure regulator replaced, in-dash fuel pressure gauge fitted and it appears for some reason we are losing fuel pressure under extreme loads.
As I write this I'm investigating a different type of fuel pressure regulator and intend doing some testing before stripping the entire car down in preperation for the winter rebuild.
We must sort this engine problem before we start any winter rebuild plan.
Will keep ya's posted . Cheers ... Flash
Top of the South Speedway, Nelson, 2&3 Mar 2018 - Vertex Super Cup Final Rounds 6&7
The final 2 rounds of the Vertex Super Cup were at Nelson's Top of the South Speedway and I was really looking forward to this. Aiming for a top 8 finish overall in the series was the plan. We grabbed a 3rd place finish in the first heat of night one but that was the highlight of the weekend. Our intermittent engine problem put pay to any chance of our aim to advance and we quickly plummeted down the leaderboard. The following day we unsuccessfully tried swapping out the magneto with a borrowed unit but that unit failed. So although we tried everything we could with the resources we had, the engine just didn't want to play the game on the night. So we parked it and assumed that was our season was done with a possible internal engine problem.
Not the way we wanted to finish the season, that's for sure. And definitely not where we expected to be in the overall Vertex Super Cup points.
