October - November 2018 Update

Season Underway with Canterbury Championship plus Mag and Turbo Super Cup

Hi everyone and I've finally found a bit of time to complete a much needed update from the 811 Super Saloon Team.
Our season got underway with a couple of meets at our local Woodford Glen but with niggly problems slowing our progress there just wasn't anything worth reporting.
Then 3 weeks ago it was down south to kick off the Mag & Turbo Super Cup. With Round 1 at Dunedin rained out it was off to Cromwell for Round 2. We still found a couple of issues slowing our progress in the heat races but come the 30 lap feature 811 was off like a robbers dog! With our poor heat results we started the feature from grid 18 and on lap 30 we were in 8th.
No doubt most of you are aware how the car and driver faired in that last lap with 811 suffering one of the most vicious series of high speed rolls witnessed. However the team took a HUGE positive from our improved performance and welcomed the resulting points haul which had us take heaps of passing points and the most points overall out of all teams in the feature. It will be interesting to see if anyone can repeat that many passes in a feature throughout the series.
The complete rebuild of the car over the following 2 weeks was nothing short of amazing in my eyes. The support from friends and my team was outstanding so I cannot thank everyone enough. Steve Templeton, Blair Trillo, Glen Campbell, Casey Nees, Cameron Cossar, Tom Corin and Lovelady Racecars. I'll just drop two more names here as well: Wayne & Mike. You are all fantastic!
So the last couple of nights we were back to Woodford Glen for the Canterbury Champs and Round 3 of the Mag & Turbo Super Cup. The highlight for us on Friday nights champs was a second place heat result behind Ian Burson. If there's any driver I don't mind following to the checkered it would be Ian in the 21n rocket.
We managed to recover from a bingle in the feature to end up 8th overall that night. The team are wrapt as we appear to have finally shaken off the bad luck umbrella that we have been under for some time.
Saturday's Super Cup was always gonna be another tough night but our luck has definately changed as I finally drew a front row start instead of being stuck with middle draws. We lost a couple of places in this heat but made up for it with coming from the rear in our second heat to finish 4th.
The team were estatic once we found out we had qualified 3rd overall for the X Factor Cars Shootout. Now THAT is new territory for our team! I tried too hard in my shootout against Trevor and spun myself but still wrapt to be starting the feature from grid 4.
After yet another bingle in the feature we were forced infield with broken bodywork blocking forward vision dammit. But even with that disappointing finish to the night myself and the team are bloody stoked to have finished 6th overall on points for the night and we are now 6th overall in the series. Brilliant!
The team are now going to relish a well earned break from racing until boxing day sees us back at the Glen.
Cheers from the whole team at Nees Racing and we wish you all a safe and very merry fast approaching festive season. Cheers ... Flash
