End of Season plus Mag and Turbo Super Cup Prize Giving
Well that is season number 38 done and dusted and what a ride!!! I gotta say this sport of Super Saloon racing just gets tougher each and every season. We continued to bank valuable points throughout the Mag & Turbo Super Cup plus achieved several X Factor Cars Top 8 Shoot Outs along the way.
After our heat win at Blenheims round I had a feeling we were onto something good.
So off to Invercargill we headed for another round plus the South Island Champs in the double header weekend. The rain put pay to our Super Cup on the Friday and Saturday we ran into issues with the engine when it sheared the magneto drive in the pits before we even got on track.
Perserverence was the key and we managed to repair the car with spares we carried and by the time we got dialed in we went from the back of the pack to finish 3rd in the second heat, Bloody Brilliant! However in the feature race we suffered a puncture and a DNF dammit :(
Onto the final round of the Super Cup at Woodford Glen and we just knew we had to keep banking those points with consistent racing. The entire team were ecstatic when we climbed the ladder to finish 2nd overall in the series behind Ian Burson. What a fantastic result for everyone involved with our team and a just reward for all the hard graft!
We definately got noticed to the extent that Josh Boulton made an offer to purchase 811 back and what better way to finish, on a personal best result and with a still immaculate and race ready car. We did however sneak in one more race meeting at Ashburton before BRT took delivery of the car where we finished 3rd overall in the South Island CTRA Champs which was a real fun "no pressure" type of day.
The Super Cup prize giving was always gonna be a great night and one we will always remember. Receiving our cup for 2nd overall, huge congrats to Ian Burson on 1st and Owen Dixon for 3rd overall. We also recevied the "Captain Crunch" award for our massive spill at Cromwells round but the icing on the cake was being awarded "Referees Choice" in front of a standing ovation. A very humbling and emotional end to a race season I personally will never forget.
Thank You so much to all our support partners for their valued assistance plus to you the followers and fans.
Cheers from all the team ... Flash
